It was reported on 10th October, that the Israeli police had frozen all crypto accounts associated with the Hamas group. According to a local press release, the Binance crypto group also assisted in actualizing this feat.
Yoav Gallant, the Israeli Defence Minister, ordered a total siege on the Gaza Strip following the Hamas’ attack on Israel. During this, some comprehensive counter operations have been initiated, which focuses on Hamas’ financial resources.
According to Calcalist, the Israeli police force connived with Binance, the world’s biggest crypto exchange, the Ministry of Defence and intelligent agencies to achieve this feat.
This effect has affected an undisclosed but huge amount of assets. Worsening the effect, it was stated in the report that all the seized funds would be directed to Israel’s national treasury.
Meanwhile, this feat is second to one. Israeli authorities have previously seized a whopping 190 Binance accounts related to military personnel in 2021.
Earlier in March, Changpeng Zhao and Binance denied an accusation from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CTFC) when it took legal action against them. The lawsuit was questioning and alleging the fact that the officials of Binance was aware of all Hamas-related crypto transactions.
The Hamas-Israel operation seems to be monitored by everyone. Thus, this prompt action of Israel and Binance against the Hamas has caused a stir in the crypto space. As of now, these are the only known detail.
